Every year COFCO holds an “Ugly Sweater Day” to celebrate the season.
But it’s not all about having fun and wearing our ugliest holiday sweaters. It’s also a time when we like to do something for others in the community.
Each year, we choose a charity to which COFCO makes a donation. But, for most of us, that doesn’t go far enough. We like to also put a “face” on our community involvement and when better than at this time of year when giving is the theme?
Our “Ugly Sweater Day” is a great excuse to hold a holiday drive for local families who need a little help around this time of year.
As a company, we will be donating clothes, accessories, books, toys and other things on these kids’ own wish lists as well as things we’ve discovered that they are interested in. It’s so much fun! It’s like preparing a celebration for our own families!
The first family consists of a grandmother raising and caring for her 13-year-old granddaughter. The second family is also a grandmother who is taking care of a pair of siblings; her 7-year-old granddaughter and 9-year-old grandson. The third family is a single mother who is caring for her 15-year-old daughter on her own.
We salute these brave ladies who are pouring their lives into these children and in most cases making huge sacrifices to do so. It’s such a privilege to be able to add a little “sparkle” to their lives this year.
