It’s the eleventh month of the year and things are busier than ever!
It’s the time of year when the days and weeks seem to speed up as Thanksgiving approaches and the December festivities follow close behind. It’s a time to tie up loose ends, complete ‘to do’ lists and attend a hectic round of social and family activities.
Every year, the Thanksgiving holiday gives us pause as we reflect on all of our blessings.
During COFCO’s 70th Anniversary year, there has been much to celebrate. Yet we are also touched by the sobering knowledge that many will be spending this Thanksgiving in shelters, or seeking refuge with family, as a result of Hurricane Matthew. Many will be relying on organizations like the American Red Cross and on more fortunate people, like us, to help them through the consequences of this storm. Our thoughts remain with the victims of this natural disaster.
At the same time, we are heartened that in the midst of events like this, we see how strong the American spirit really is. We believe in and thrive on lending a hand to those less fortunate.
In that spirit, COFCO held a company wide donation drive for the American Red Cross in aid of the victims of Hurricane Matthew. We were privileged to act as a conduit for many generous donations from our team and our clients. We not only received donations, but also offered to have our trucks pick these items up to make it more convenient for people to give. We were heartened by the response.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving during this milestone 70th anniversary year, we’re thankful to be in a position to do good to others through our philanthropic efforts. We’re thankful for 70 amazing years, for our COFCO family, for our vendors, for our clients and for an amazing future ahead.
We wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and challenge you to not only count your blessings, but also to be a blessing to others, especially for those in need.
