COFCO has had a long and successful relationship with QVC having furnished its first headquarters in 1986 and numerous projects since then.
Our latest success has been a 4 phase restack of their Studio Park facility, which took place over 2 years – during a pandemic – while occupied. This location serves as the QVC headquarters.
A densification was necessary in order begin the Phase 1 Swing Space which would enable QVC’s staff to continue working while consistently moving departments and allow a clear workspace for Phase 2 demolition. The densification started at 3 p.m. Friday with final walkthrough on Sunday morning so that staff can seamlessly return to work at 8 a.m. on Monday.
In March 2020, when the pandemic hit, the Phase 3 order was already placed. This meant a redesign of workstations along with changes to the already-installed Phases 1 and 2 becoming necessary in order to incorporate an open environment. All screens were switched out to A8 and panels were added.
Phase 4 changed to more collaborative space. A hybrid model was necessary, and ancillary spaces and Pavilions were installed to offer employees more meeting spaces instead of meeting rooms.
This project was completed maintaining and meeting QVC’s timelines.
In summary, this award was based on office and workstation typicals being carried through all 4 phases during an unexpected and unprecedented pandemic where we needed to reevaluate the original design based on a hybrid work environment while maintaining the layout with established floor cores to enable flexibility moving forward.
